News of February 6-10
PRESCHOOL NEWS
“Community Workers” who help us stay well will be featured this week. We’ll learn about doctors and nurses and set up a first aid center in our classroom with a real stethoscope, bandages, thermometer, and other medical supplies. We will learn that a veterinarian is a doctor for animals and diagnose stuffed animal ailments. Your child may bring a stuffed animal from home this week to take to see the vet! Coaches and trainers help us stay healthy. We will run an obstacle course on the playground, go for neighborhood hike, and do jumping jacks. Nutritionists help us make healthy food choices. We will sort pictures of food into stacks of those that are healthy choices and those that are not. Then children will make their own nutritious smoothie from fresh fruit and yogurt in the blender.
KINDERGARTEN NEWS
Our “Solar System” students will travel to each planet this week. We are writing our own books about the planets and creating a solar system model in our classroom. Children will paint Styrofoam balls to represent the planets. We will learn that the moon is not a planet and that the sun is actually a star! What if YOU could travel into outer space?
